In an era where technology shapes nearly every aspect of life, Christian educators have a unique opportunity and responsibility to guide learners in harnessing digital tools for God’s glory. The upcoming Edify EdTech Exhibition 2026, scheduled for the first week of July, invites all Edify partner schools to embrace the theme “Transforming Christ-Centered Education with Technology.” This is more than an event. It is a powerful movement to nurture innovative, faithful young leaders who use technology to serve their schools, churches, and communities.
ICT Clubs and similar technology initiatives in schools are vital platforms for this transformation. These student-driven clubs foster creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and leadership skills. These skills align perfectly with Christian values of stewardship, excellence, compassion, and service. Through hands-on projects, learners move beyond passive consumption of technology to become active creators and innovators. They learn to identify real challenges in their communities and develop thoughtful, sustainable solutions that reflect integrity and discipleship.
Why ICT Clubs Matter
Participating in an ICT Club helps learners build confidence, develop a growth mindset, and see technology as a tool for good rather than distraction. Clubs encourage peer learning, teamwork, and a sense of ownership. Learners gain practical exposure to digital tools while integrating faith into their work. We need to ask questions like how does this project serve others and honour God?
Teachers and school leaders play a pivotal role in this journey. By actively supporting and motivating learners to join ICT Clubs, you become mentors who ignite potential. Your guidance helps students align projects with the new Ugandan curriculum, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and most importantly Christ-cantered principles such as service, prayerful innovation, and ethical technology use.
Categories of Innovation for the Exhibition
The Edify EdTech Exhibition celebrates diverse expressions of creativity. Schools are encouraged to prepare projects in the following areas:
- Multimedia Projects: Learners can create educational posters, animated lessons, explainer videos, or school promotion content using tools like Canva, CapCut, or OpenShot. These projects develop storytelling and visual communication skills while producing resources that enhance teaching and learning across subjects.
- Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI): Using platforms like Micro:bit, Arduino, or MakeCode, students build robots and simple AI-driven solutions. This category promotes logical reasoning, prototyping, and real-world problem-solving.
- Website Designing: Students can build informative websites using WordPress, HTML/CSS, or Google Sites. These projects teach content organization, design, and web literacy which is ideal for creating school, church, or community platforms.
- Mobile App Development: With block-based tools like MIT App Inventor or text-based languages like Python, learners design apps that address challenges in education, safety, health, or church ministry.
- Touch Typing: A foundational skill that boosts efficiency and confidence. Clubs can run fun challenges to improve speed and accuracy, laying a strong base for all other digital work.
- STEM Projects: Integrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through practical inventions that demonstrate innovation and sustainability.
Every project should answer the core question: “How does this technology make Christ-centered education more effective, accessible, engaging, or impactful?”
Fostering Inclusivity and Teamwork
True transformation happens when every learner feels included. Teachers should intentionally encourage equal participation of both girls and boys in technology activities. Celebrate diverse talents and create a supportive environment where collaboration thrives. When students work in teams, they practice empathy, communication, and shared leadership qualities essential for future Christian professionals.
Practical Ways Teachers Can Support Learners
- Integrate club activities into the school timetable with regular weekly meetings.
- Mentor project teams by helping them identify community needs and refine ideas.
- Provide access to free resources available on edify.org.ug, sharebility.net, and platforms like Scratch, MIT App Inventor, and TypingMaster.
- Organize internal exhibitions or “ICT Days” to build confidence and generate excitement.
- Document progress through photos, videos, and reflections to celebrate growth.
- Link projects to other subjects and school clubs for broader impact.
- Partner with parents and administration to secure basic resources like computer lab access and internet time.
Early preparation is key. With the exhibition just around the corner, now is the time to form or revive ICT Clubs, elect leaders, develop action plans, and begin prototyping ideas. Consistent practice in pitching projects will also sharpen communication skills.
A Call to Action
Dear teachers, patrons, and school leaders: You are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works (Ephesians 2:10). By championing technology in your schools, you equip the next generation to be salt and light in a digital world. Let us inspire our learners to innovate with purpose, integrity, and excellence.
Register your school’s projects, motivate your students, and prepare to shine at the Edify EdTech Exhibition 2026. Together, we can transform Christ-centered education through technology and witness the remarkable potential of young innovators who create for His glory.
The future of education in Uganda is bright and it is being shaped in your classrooms today.
